I recently posted that I was going to do a Marathon in June. For this I reckoned I’d need a good inspirational verse to help motivate me during my training. I asked on the social networks for suggestions and got some great responses. My brother Patrick obviously doesn’t have much confidence in my abilities as he suggested the shortest verse in the whole bible; “Jesus wept” (Joh 11:35) I hope not, it’ll probably be more like “John wept” J
My favourite came from Pastor Michael O’Donovan:
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
I thought I would share all those other ones with you. I hope you get some inspiration from them too. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid."
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.
The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way;
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
But I don't place any value on my life, if only I can finish my race and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.
I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!
Please let me know if you know of or come across any more.
